Okay, I have not been posting since arriving in country in mid-September, other than the self-gratifying pompous post about the article written on me in November.  I seem to have hit a lull in the action over here and thanks to one of my blogging buddies, Kim Jossfolk, who writes the "Just a Conservative girl" blog I have been inspired to try and get this site of my many rantings and pontifications  started again.  I have written a lot in a notebook of what I have seen over here so far and will be attempting to add some of it, along with my opinions on things at a somewhat regular clip.  So, for those who used to enjoy reading my blog before (all 30 or so) but gave up on me months ago, I shall attempt to redeem myself over the coming months.  Plus, I'm also sure all of the atheists and Ron Paul supporters have missed posting hateful comments here as well.

America Needs A Warrior, Politicians Need Not Apply

Early Republican polling each day continues to show Mitt Romney as the leader for the 2012 nomination, followed closely by Mike Huckabee. It appears thus far that Republicans are playing it safe. That's as nicely as I can put it. Are the Republicans truly going to continue the mistakes of the past, i.e. John McCain and Bob Dole?? It's almost as if they have a meeting and determine who's turn it is, based on seniority of times run.

As much as I do not support Donald Trump for President, there are things that can be learned from his rapid rise and fall from the polling of the last few weeks. What caused his rapid ascension in the Republican polling, in spite of his obvious past support to liberal politicians?? HE SPOKE HIS MIND!! HE ACTED LIKE A MAN WITH COJONES WHO STOOD FOR SOMETHING!!! Don't get me wrong, I think his motives are selfish and I would not vote for him for President, but if ever there was a moment for Republican candidates to realize what we are looking for in a candidate as it relates to attitude, this was the day.

Unfortunately the GOP has quickly put the blindfold back on and RINO's like Romney and Huckabee once again lead the polling, as their names are familiar and they represent the Republican establishment that refuses to rock the boat and tell it like it is.

It seems these days in the Republican Party that the individuals with the most testicular fortitude are females. Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann take a leadership role daily and stand firm in conservative principles in spite of an overwhelming liberal force which serves to demonize them with horrific rhetoric that not only targets them but members of their family. Yet the Republicans lift up the original author of socialized medicine, Mitt Romney, as their early frontrunner.

Hello!!! Wake up Republican Party!!! We, the conservative majority of America do not want another politician to run this country further into the ground. We yearn for someone that stands up for what is right, regardless of what the politically correct viewpoint is on the matter. We do not want any more wimps that attempt to please everyone. Right is right and wrong is wrong, and the sooner we get back to speaking plainly and clearly to both instead of blurring the line between the two is the day we begin to repair our Republic. It's as simple as that.

I post my opinions on this site regularly. I have made quite a few enemies and quite a few friends. Whichever side you fall on one thing is for sure...at least you know clearly what my views are and where I stand. All the Republicans need to do is stop settling for this wishy-washy stance of being afraid to make a stand for fear of who it might disenfranchise, and tell it like it is for a change. America hungers for a leader!! A warrior who speaks his mind instead of catering to whatever crowd he is talking to that day. Where is this man or woman? Will they run? The current field of candidates is as weak as it can be, minus Herman Cain, who just can't get any recognition or publicity going as of yet. Sarah??? Allen??? Michele??? Someone please grab the guidon and circle the formation!! The nation needs a warrior!!!

In the contemporary world, where left-wing attitudes are regarded as normative, it is a given that capitalism, with its free market and profit motive, emanates from and creates selfishness, while socialism, the welfare state and the "social compact," as it is increasingly referred to, emanate from and produce selflessness.

The opposite is the truth.

Whatever its intentions, the entitlement state produces far more selfish people -- and therefore, a far more selfish society -- than a free-market economy. And once this widespread selfishness catches on, we have little evidence that it can be undone.

Here's an illustration: Last year, President Obama addressed a large audience of college students on the subject of health care. At one point in his speech, he announced that the students will now be able to remain on their parents' health insurance plan until age 26. I do not ever recall hearing a louder, more thunderous and sustained applause than I did then. I do not believe that if the president had announced that a cure for cancer had been discovered that the applause would have been louder or longer.

It is depressing to listen to that applause. To be told that one can be dependent on one's parents until age 26 should strike a young person who wants to grow up as demeaning, not as something to celebrate.

Throughout American history, the natural -- or at least hoped for -- inclination of a young person was to become a mature adult, independent of Mom and Dad, and to become a grown up. But in the welfare state, this is no longer the case.

In various European countries, it is increasingly common for young men to live with their parents into their 30s and even longer. Why not? In the welfare state, there is no shame in doing so.

The welfare state enables -- and thereby produces -- people whose preoccupations become more and more self-centered as time goes on:

How many benefits will I receive from the state?

How much will the state pay for my education?

How much will the state pay for my health care and when I retire?

What is the youngest age at which I can retire?

How much vacation time can I get each year?

How many days can I call in sick and get paid?

How many months can I claim paternity or maternity care money?

The list gets longer with each election of a left-wing party. And each entitlement becomes a "right" as the left transforms entitlements into the language of "rights" as quickly as possible.

What entitlements do, and what the transformation of entitlements into rights does, is create a citizenry that increasingly lacks the most important character trait -- gratitude. Of all the characteristics needed for both a happy and morally decent life, none surpasses gratitude. Grateful people are happier, and grateful people are more morally decent. That is why we teach our children to say "thank you." But the welfare state undoes that. One does not express thanks for a right. So, instead of "thank you," the citizen of the welfare state is taught to say, "What more can I get?"

Yet, while producing increasingly selfish people, the mantra of the left, and therefore of the universities and the media, has been for generations that capitalism and the free market, not the welfare state, produces selfish people.

They succeed in part because demonizing conservatives and their values is a left-wing art. But the truth is that capitalism and the free market produce less selfish people. Teaching people to work hard and take care of themselves (and others) produces a less, not a more, selfish citizen.

Capitalism teaches people to work harder; the welfare state teaches people to want harder. Which is better?

59 House Republicans and 15 Senators Stood For The People

Fifty-nine brave House Republicans stood against this symbolic budget bill which spends 1.5 trillion dollars more than the nations income will support this year. In spite of the majority of their fellow party members, who chose politics over the people, and bowed to liberal threats and fear-mongering, the below listing republicans deserve to be lauded and thanked for standing on principle and for the people. If you have the time, give them a call and thank them for doing the right thing, as I doubt many take the time to do (freshmen members in bold):

Anyone still have their heads in the sand and think this is just a game? Radical Islam is not going away. They will not rest until they have destroyed our way of life. David Horowitz gave a wonderful address at CPAC that was not so much of a pep rally type speech as it was a wake-up call for Americans to remain vigilant. Noted in his speech was evidence seized by the FBI in the Holy Land Foundation raid of 2001.

an excerpt from Mr. Horowitz's speech:

"The Muslim Brotherhood, which is the fountainhead of political Islam and has spawned 12 terrorist armies including al-Qaeda and Hamas is a political force in Egypt that is also willing to participate in elections and in the civil institutions of society. The Holy Land Foundation, a creation of the Muslim Brotherhood was the largest Islamic charity in America until it was raided by the FBI and put on trial in Texas for funding Hamas. One of the documents seized in a concealed basement at the Foundation headquarters and put into evidence by the FBI was the Muslim Brotherhood’s plan for America. The stated goal of this plan was to “destroy the American civilization.”

The plan called for building a secret leadership in America and for the creation of a series of Brotherhood front groups that would appear to be participants in America’s democracy until the time came when and where force would be necessary to accomplish the Brotherhood’s goals."

This is going on as we speak...within our own allegedly conservative groups. Suhail Khan is a member of The American Conservative Union's Board of Directors, thanks to Grover Norquist.

Please take the time to listen to Mr. Horowitz's entire address (above), as he explains Suhail Khan and his terrorist affiliations in great detail. Why is this man allowed to remain on a board with the word "conservative" in the title. This is evidence that many high profile conservatives have their heads stuck in the sand regarding the real threat of radical Islam to our nation. It is up to "We The People" to combat these infiltrations which seek to destroy our society and our republic. Again I say, WAKE UP!!!!

Aww! They're Going To Sit Together. Symbolism is Stupid!!

I'm not sure if you caught it in the title, but I really hate symbolism.

I mean seriously, do they think the American people are going to see this pointless gesture as an actual "mending of the fences." Are John Boehner and Nancy Pelosi going to be seen walking arm in arm each day to and from Capitol Hill?? Will there be compromise amongst lawmakers on passing legislation? I, for one, sure hope not!!! That's not what the American people elected the new Congress for. November's election was a statement by the American people that we wanted the legislating away of our freedoms to stop!! We want bills like the 3000 page unconstitutional Obamacare legislation to end. We want the out of control spending of our grandchildren's money to be squashed!!

This is obviously a ploy by liberals in the hopes that the newly elected Congress will do just that, compromise. I pray they will remember why they were elected and represent the people of America who elected them. I don't recall much compromise in the voices of the liberals when Obama was elected and they owned a filibuster-proof majority. Much needs to be done to repair the extreme damage that has been done to the Republic in the last two years. I pray our new Congress has the fortitude to do it.

On a lighter note, I am hearing disturbing news that many are planning on playing drinking games during the State of the Union address tonight. Apparently, President Obama is going insult the intelligence of Americans by using the word "investing" to disguise the unpopular word he really means, "spending." I implore conservatives to not play this game, as I fear thousands could end up in emergency rooms tonight with alcohol poisoning.

Christine O'Donnell Wins...Karl Rove Proves GOP Not Necessarily a Conservatives Friend

Christine O'Donnell, immediately after upsetting her opponent, long time establishment RINO Mike Castle, is immediately blasted by Karlo Rove on Hannity's show. The Republican Party further stated that they will not be supporting O'Donnell financially in the election race.

Pay attention!! The GOP is not always the friend of Conservatives.

In my daily attempt to shed light on the liberals statist agenda that seeks to convert our fine republic into a socialist doormat for the world, I come across a great many characters with quite a few interesting viewpoints.

Throughout 2009, as President Obama and the liberal congress made it increasingly obvious that the oath they swore to uphold the Constitution of The United States meant nothing to them, a movement began which has been dubbed the “Tea Party Movement.” As the movement grew and gained popularity as a strong attempt to reclaim conservative values based upon the Constitution, fiscal responsibility, limited government, and free markets, many different viewpoints and, in some cases “fringe” elements have attempted to attach their causes to the coattails of this movement. Let’s examine some of the different schools of thought I come in contact with daily:

Those that contend the President and the liberal-run congress support policies that are socialist in nature, and therefore are not supported by our Constitution. I would say the vast majority of conservatives, myself included, believe this is true.

Those that contend the President and the liberal-run congress are enacting reckless spending policies on purpose in order to cause a catastrophic failure of the free market in order to enact a new socialist government…see Cloward/Piven Strategy. Quite a few are beginning to accept this theory, and I consider it to be a possibility. Whether you believe this is true or not, the problem here is that this thought process begins to lend itself to the conspiracy theorist crowd, which loves to take a small fact or truth, and run with it to the point that it becomes laughable.

The libertarian school of thought has been more widely accepted as of late, and a great many conservatives find themselves having “common ground” with the libertarians’ strict views of limited government and personal liberty. The problem with becoming too cozy with libertarian philosophy is the broad spectrum it encompasses. Some libertarians take limited government and go so far as to desire the abolition of the state completely. This school of thought seems to vilify all government representation as evil and an enemy of individual rights. Their “live and let live” philosophy is a close cousin to pacifism, which is typically espoused by liberal fringe groups…thus, completely perverting the initial belief system 180 degrees, and allowing persons who do not represent conservatism in any way a perceived voice in the discord.

For example, I have made many friends in the last year writing my blog and have utilized facebook as a mechanism for keeping up with these alleged like-minded thinkers. I recently witnessed disturbing articles and videos from some of these self-avowed fellow tea party patriots which were in no way based in conservatism or the Constitution. Everything from anti-war veterans speaking of how evil corporate fatcats forced them to take part in unjust wars to schizophrenic 9/11 “truthers” were included. Needless to say they are no longer on my friend list.

Overall, the Tea Party Movement has done a great deal to fight the statist policies that threaten to bring this wonderful republic to its knees. I am a staunch supporter of it and would march in every event they coordinated if my status as a U.S. Marine allowed for it. My concern in this article is to point out that as this movement continues to grow at such a brisk pace, it will be important to ensure that the leaders of the movement are policing the ranks for those that would misrepresent the principles the movement stands for.

Happy New Year Fellow Conservative Bloggers

I was watching a video on Conservative Blogs Central, which was showing how many conservative blogs have sprung up this year to combat the current administration and their attempts to take our freedom and liberties. Somehow my little blog made the cut and was listed around the 2:19 mark of the song. As I sum up my first year of doing this I have to thank the good friends I have made this year from around the country and elsewhere in the world. The experience and knowledge I have gained from my fellow conservative bloggers is appreciated more than I can express with words.

I will give a few shout-outs (not the Ft. Hood kind) for the year to a few of my favorite bloggers. Special thanks to Random Acts of Patriotism, The Conservative Mama, Opus #6 aka MAinfo, and my personal guilty venting pleasure, The Daily Retard. All of you have helped me immensely with starting and continuing my blog, and I read your blogs daily. The reason I say that is you are the only ones who read it...jk, seriously, it has been a great year of meeting fellow conservatives and learning from each other. May we continue to strengthen in number and power in the new year so we may right the ship before it is too late. God bless all fellow conservative bloggers in the new year.

We Need a "Ronald Reagan" Now More Than Ever!! Timeless Speech!!

What I Believe...Whether It Offends You or Not.

In this day and age, it is difficult to get people to clearly tell you what they believe and support. It's pretty much impossible to get this honesty from politicians. I have decided to air out my views on a variety of topics, at the risk of possibly alienating a few. I believe it is important to honestly give people an assessment of where you are coming from, and it is also a nice way to rant a little, so here it goes...The Manifesto of Ron, if you will:

1. I BELIEVE AMERICA IS GOOD...that's right, contrary to the worldwide "apology tour" Barack Obama has been on since assuming duties as President, I believe values and principles established in the founding of this great nation have changed the world in a very positive way over the past 234 years. Have we made mistakes as a nation? Of course, but we most assuredly do not owe the world any apologies for our track record of promoting liberty, removing tyranny, feeding the hungry, rescuing every third world nation from natural disasters, etc., etc.

2. I BELIEVE IN CAPITALISM...Sorry Michael Moore! As much as you attempt to villainize it, you are a huge hippocrite, as you could not have gotten where you are today without it. All you Hollywood leftist, elitist morons, listen up! I know most of you have the IQ of Forrest Gump, but you need to know that "evil capitalism" you lobby against every day is what has created your multi-million dollar mansions, cars, servants, and your ability to fly off to Africa on a whim and adopt little Ndugu for your nanny to raise. Do some people get ahead in a capitalist system via corrupt means, and at the expense of the "little guy?" Yes, but as a whole the system of capitalism is the only long term successful system there is, and it is most definitely the fairest system. It gives the individual all of the liberty and freedom to pursue and accomplish whatever goals and dreams they may have in life. It merely requires that each individual add their own EFFORT and HARD WORK, which seems to be a hangup for many.

I will continue with, " The Manifesto of Ron" tomorrow with points 3 and 4...and maybe even 5 if I'm feeling froggy, but for now I must go to work to make a living for myself and my family. For you socialists, it's that little thing I mentioned about "effort and hard work." It's a liberty the lazy and non-producing population of our country are more than willing to give away in return for the government taking care of their needs. I end Part 1 of my manifesto with a quote from Thomas Jefferson:

"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have."

ALWAYS WATCH WHAT THE LEFT HAND IS DOING…LIBERALS ARE AMBIDEXTROUS!!

The last two weeks have been incredible! As posted earlier, I’ve really started to regain my faith in the people of this country. It has been wonderful to see the banding together of conservatives and the rallying cries of Americans who still believe in the Constitution of this great land. The townhall meetings have been, and continue to be a great demonstration of freedom and democracy in action. Three months ago I feared that our country was going to sink into socialism without so much as a whimper. I am happy to say that I was mistaken.

With everyone currently focused on defeating this “hostile takeover” of our freedom to choose healthcare for ourselves, we need to ensure we are watching what President Obama’s left hand is up to. I have noticed when liberals have all of us so focused on one issue, they tend to quietly be up to no good in another area, hoping we won’t notice.

Last month President Obama named Mark Lloyd the associate general counsel and chief diversity officer at the Federal Communications Commission. Okay, first things first…chief diversity officer?!?!?! Really?? Seriously??? That is an actual title for a real occupation?? That is such an incredibly stupid title that I am physically laughing out loud as I am typing this. What do you do Ron? I am the chief diversity officer for the Marine Corps. What a joke! Speaking of the USMC, there is no more diverse organization in our country than the US military. We are recruited from all cultures, backgrounds, financial classes, races, and ethnicities. We accomplish the most difficult of tasks that are physically and mentally exhausting, in environments much more demanding than any boardroom, and we do it successfully every day without the need for any chief diversity officer, but apparently the FCC needs one.

I apologize for ranting away from the point I am wanting to make, but really…CHIEF DIVERSITY OFFICER!!! Okay, I am laughing by myself again. I’ll get back to the point.

President Obama appointed Mark Lloyd to this position with the FCC. You know...the FCC, the government entity that controls the airwaves. Now it is already well known to all Americans that the mainstream television media is very biased…Say it ain’t so!!! No, really, they are just a tad bit biased towards the left. So let’s look at the history behind the latest Obama czar (substitute “stooge” for “czar” if you prefer) to determine what direction he may look to take the FCC as it’s CHIEF DIVERSITY OFFICER…hahahaha!! Step aside everyone!! Make way for the CDO!!

In 2007, Mark Lloyd co-authored a report titled, “The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio” which you may read the contents of at:

In this report Mr. Lloyd…sorry, I mean CHIEF Lloyd, stated some very troubling things…unless, of course, you live in a country like North Korea, China, or Venezuela, where the state controls what the media is allowed to report to the people. I have included some of the quotes from this report below:

“Our conclusion is that the gap between conservative and progressive talk radio is the result of multiple structural problems in the U.S. regulatory system”

Yes, this genius…I mean CHIEF, has concluded that the 10 to 1 ratio of conservative talk radio programming to statist, I mean progressive talk radio is caused by the lack of government regulation of the airwaves…Oh yes he did!!! Chief Castro over here doesn’t recognize the rule of supply and demand, he only recognizes the need for more government enforcement over our freedom to listen to what we want to as Americans. But he goes on…

“This analysis suggests that any effort to encourage more responsive and balanced radio programming will first require steps to increase localism and diversify radio station ownership to better meet local and community needs. We suggest three ways to accomplish this:

Restore local and national caps on the ownership of commercial radio stations.

The first paragraph is just the everyday typical liberal mush…”to better meet local and community needs” is their pompous attitude that they know better than we do what we need on the radio. Doesn’t capitalism as well as the rule of supply and demand take care of that already? If a local community really, really wanted more liberal (funny they call it “progressive” throughout the report) programming in their area, wouldn’t a smart business person see the income potential and put such a station on the air?

Uhh, yes, his first idea is honestly to have the government control who can and cannot own a radio station…no conflict of interest there!!!

Yes, your eyes are correct…the last idea is to assess fines for radio station owners that do not air the programming the government wants them to. Not only that, they will take the money from the fines and give the money to public broadcasting (NPR). So it’s broadcasting’s version of “redistribution of wealth.” It makes all the sense in the world. Take money from successful business owners who provide a product in high demand from the American people, and give the money to failing, government owned radio stations that nobody listens to.

Mr. Lloyd, like President Obama, is on the record as saying they are not interested in re-instituting the Fairness Doctrine. Well, of course they aren’t! Enough Americans have heard of the Fairness Doctrine by now. It wouldn’t be popular to support it. But if we take the Fairness Doctrine out of its packaging, rename it; say, the DIVERSITY in Broadcasting Act, or something similar…and re-attach the same regulations as before, the American people would support that, right? After all, it’s DIVERSITY!! Anything with the word “DIVERSITY” in it has to be good, right? Anything with diversity in the title has to be supported, lest the protestor be labeled a racist.

I could go on a rant all day about this but the point I’m making is we have to be great multi-taskers. At the same time we are organizing our resistance to this unconstitutional healthcare fiasco, we have to pay attention to the other maneuvers being initiated by the statists in Washington, lest we end up bamboozled (I love that word and try to use it whenever possible)

Sonia Sotomayor's Quotes Reveal Complete Ignorance on the Duties of Our Judicial Branch

Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama's first nominee for the Supreme Court of The United States, seems to have less knowledge on the duties of our judicial branch than the average high school student. (public school students excluded of course)

Let's have a brief discussion on the separation of powers. Most High School students are educated on how our government operates with three separate branches: the executive, legislative, and judicial. Each branch has it's own powers and limitations. This type of government prevents any branch from gaining too much power, thus limiting the possibility of abuse of power. The President (executive) may enact certain things, but is overseen by congress (legislative) and the courts (judicial). Each branch has it's own powers and limitations. Apparently Judge Sotomayor is not familiar with our Constitution and the separation of powers, maybe I'm losing my mind but it would seem familiarity with these would be somewhat of a prerequisite for the job.

Sotomayor, self-admittedly claimed that it is a judges job to make policy, rather than adjudicate and interpret constitutional law. Don't believe me? It's on tape!



This type of viewpoint should prevent her from being a judge at all, much less a Supreme Court justice.

She has been overturned 80% (4 out of 5 times) by the Supreme Court when they reviewed opinions that she authored. 3 out of the 4 times the Court held that Judge Sotomayor erred in her statutory interpretation. Not exactly a resume builder for a Supreme Court position.

Judge Sotomayor stated, "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male."

Now, let's play a little game. Let's use the same quote from above, but let's switch the places of "Latina woman" and "white male", and let's make the quote from any white male you would like to use. For my game I have used Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy...

Judge Kennedy stated, "I would hope that a wise white male with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Latino woman."

Now can anyone look me straight in the eye and tell me that Judge Kennedy would be nominated, much less stand any chance of being confirmed if he had made that statement? The statement oozes with racism, and yet, judge Sotomayor will more than likely get a pass on this, because of a dangerous double standard we have accepted in this country.

This is the first real chance for the Republican Party to tighten up their belts and reestablish themselves as the "conservative" party. It will be interesting to see if they put on their gloves for a fight, or slip further to the left and away from any defining feature or stance, by giving the radical left yet another free pass.

WE MUST LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE

In dealing with each arising issue in this country, it is important to always consider the big picture. The statist knows that he or she cannot take away our liberties in one sweeping stroke. Doing this would set off millions of alarms and the citizens would rebel immediately. The plan of the statist is to quietly and very subtly erode little liberties, so that they go unnoticed, but to the few who do their research and actually call the statists out for what they are. If they control 95% of the media it is quite conceivable that they can publicly write off this group of whistleblowers as "extremist." They may even, for dramatic effect, have one of their agencies publish a report identifying such persons as "domestic terrorists." (See DHS report from April)

Back to my point for today...

Making a lot of news over the past few days is a 13 year old boy who does not wish to take chemotherapy for his lymphoma. Doctors have stated that he has a 90% chance of recovery if treated, a mere 5% if he is not. The family has religious beliefs which prevent them from accepting this treatment. The medical community has taken the parents to court to force the treatment, and the courts have ordered that the child be treated with chemotherapy. I'm sure that many of you, perhaps even a majority, believe the courts did the right thing in this situation. I challenge you to look at the bigger picture.

This one case will set future judicial precedence and empower the courts to interfere further in our private lives. I do not believe the federal government should have the power to tell us what medical treatment we will receive. I also do not believe the constitution permits such liberties to be taken away from individual citizens by courts. I will be honest with you. I agree that the religious beliefs of this family, which will more than likely result in their child's death, are unfortunate. I'll go a step further. I think their beliefs are downright crazy, but I also know that I take my right to practice my own religious beliefs seriously. You have to understand that by letting the courts rule this way in this one extreme scenario, we are allowing them to take away a small portion of our freedom to practice religion and worship God. The future will allow further court rulings. Each one will take an ever so small chunk of religious freedom until one day we will wake up and will find that our freedom to worship no longer exists.

In summary, it is easy to look at the surface of this situation and find a moral basis to conclude that the courts made the correct decision. Our initial emotions may even lead us to believe this, but we must look below the surface of this one incident and see that this decision has taken another small portion of our freedom and our liberty, and empowered the federal courts to interfere further in our private lives in the future. A general rule of thumb for me is to think logically, not emotionally.

ENSURE YOUR CONSISTENCY WHEN CLAIMING TO BE A BELIEVER IN THE CONSTITUTION

I have teenagers, so I am quite familiar with the “know it all” mentality that they often display during these years. After all, I'm not so old that I don't remember having a very similar attitude when I was their age. Even as a young adult, I was proud of my conservative beliefs and very stubborn about defending them, sometimes to my own detriment, when I would end up deeper in a debate than my knowledge and wisdom should have allowed me to go. Yes, as a young man I had a belief system that I was confident was right, and staunchly defended it under the flag of the Constitution of our United States. The only problem was my own knowledge of this amazing document which set our country on a solid foundation was very limited.

I remember arguing quite fervently with the pro-choice crowd over abortion. I am positive that several times I referred to the Roe v. Wade decision as a decision which should be overturned, and that abortion should be made illegal by the government. Okay now be honest. Those of you who believe fully in the Constitution of our land, please tell me the err of my ways back then. It seems like a quite sound belief from a conservative standpoint. Make abortion illegal. It's a very morally positive outcome, right? Wrong! Now, before all moral conservatives stop reading this please hear me out. First of all, Roe v. Wade is a decision that should be overturned, because it is not constitutional...but the reason it is not constitutional is the same reason why the federal government cannot pass legislation to make abortion illegal. According to the Constitution, the federal government may not exercise that power over the land. The Constitution is quite clear in stating that these decisions are left to the individual States to decide. The 10th Amendment to the Constitution is quite clear on this matter. I bring this point up to simply to point out that it is so important in this day and age that we educate ourselves in what we believe in. If we are to believe that the government should follow the Constitution in governing this land, we have to educate ourselves on exactly what the founding fathers wrote in the document, lest we be labeled by the liberals (statists) as hypocrites.

This is one example of the founding fathers saving us from ourselves if you think about it. Though it would seem like a great moral victory for the government to pass legislation which would eliminate the killing of innocent unborn children, we have to think deeper about the power that we give our federal government each time we allow them to step in and dictate a rule or law over the people of this nation. That same power we give them today to do something in our favor will, tomorrow and forever be wielded by the federal government. History would show that when a federal government gains enough power over it's people to make decisions, allegedly on their behalf, that inevitably they begin to abuse that power to their own selfish and/or greedy benefit. See, the founding fathers understood that man is an imperfect being. They knew that even they, themselves, if given enough power would govern to their own benefits eventually. It is human nature, and you can trace it all of the way back to the very first story in the bible, with Adam and Eve.

Therefore, the 10th Amendment of the Constitution clearly states that the individual States are to make these decisions. Which actually works out if you think about it. If you are Pro-Life, you may choose to live in a Pro-Life State, and vice versa if you are Pro-Murder. This allows everyone over the long term to be happier citizens, and the federal government's power to be limited.
