In Memory of The U.S. Constitution...A Eulogy

What can I say about the U.S. Constitution that others do not already know. I am not sure I can find the proper words to describe the pain we are all feeling at it's passing.

Our Constitution had an amazing life even though it was rather short. It was the kind of friend that stands by you when you need somebody to be there. So many times in my life it protected me from tyranny, oppression, and corrupt government influence.

I remember once The Constitution shared with me that it's intent was not to define what rights I had as an individual, but was formed by the people of this nation to tell the government it's limitations in our lives. That was the selflessness and Godly inspired message of our Constitution.

What is it that we remember when we think of The Constitution? I think everyone who knew it very well would agree with me on this. The Constitution was by the people and for the people. It was the kind of constitution that would protect every individual's liberty at all costs. That is what I will truly miss about our Constitution. It could always make me feel in control of my own destiny when I feared the possibility of the government taking it away. It always gave me security that if I put forth the effort, I would be rewarded; and those that did not put forth the effort, would not. That was the trademark of Our Constitution. It always promoted equal opportunity to succeed on our own, rather than equal portions to all as deemed necessary by the government.

The Constitution's death was not sudden. It was a long, painful process that; unfortunately, could have been avoided. Many saw the warning signs of the sickness that took Our Constitution, but few wanted to take the extra effort needed to save it. Our Constitution was too young but as it slowly occurred to me I have realized that Our Constitution indeed lived it's life wonderfully. Our Constitution was well-loved and admired for many years, and it was painful to watch it slowly succumb the past century to the cancer of socialized laws which have created a welfare state in which people now feel entitled to whatever lifestyle they choose, compliments of the government; via the few who are still willing to work for a living. Welfare, Social Security, government healthcare. Ultimately, this is what stopped the "free market" heart of Our Constitution and caused it's death.

I will forever be grateful to have known The Constitution, as there has been no document before and will never be another document like it. I will forever be grateful that I was blessed enough to spend 38 years of my life with it. All the memories I have shared will forever be remembered and cherished. It will forever live in my heart.

Socialized Healthcare is the Last Dagger in the Coffin of Our Republic!!

Once again, as is so often true, Ronald Reagan saw this on the horizon and spoke of this in his many speeches.

I cannot stress this enough. This is the week, Americans! If we stand by and allow it to happen, this is the week that will go down in history as the week our Republic died. Yes, I know...all of the optimists out there will say that the courts will come to the rescue and easily determine this bill to be unconstitutional. I believe they more than likely will, but how many years might that take? How many Supreme Court Justices might have been replaced by Obama appointees between now and the time the Supreme Court finally hears the case? We are talking about years, not months, before they will hear the case.

From an economic perspective, will our nation still exist. The healthcare plan is estimated to be about a trillion (with a "T") dollars. Anyone who researches government estimations of their programs will undoubtedly know that they are never close in their estimates.

When the Social Security Program was being created, it was estimated that payouts in 1980 would be around 4 billion dollars. How close were the politicians? Payouts in 1980 were 108 billion dollars. They were pretty close, huh?

When the Medicare Program was born in 1965, it was estimated that payouts in 1990 would be 12 billion. Actual cost....110 billion!! Does anyone see a trend here? The government tends to be off by about a factor of 10 on their estimates. What does that mean? The socialized government takeover of healthcare will cost the American taxpayer about 10 trillion dollars.

With our current deficit, can the nation bear this burden without our economic system toppling over?

Taxes will be raised on working Americans to support this huge chunk of change immediately, but the program will not begin for at least four years. Hmmmmm. Is anyone else suspicious about where the money might be going for those years? Is anyone still naive enough to think it will be going into some untouchable healthcare savings account and accruing interest for the program's initiation? If you believe it will please Google "where did our social security money go?"

You, and your money, WILL be paying for abortions. Are there any other pro-lifers out their that morally refuse to support this procedure with your earned income?? I know I do!! What shall the government reaction be if a large group of citizens refuse to pay their taxes due to this moral dilemma? All questions we should be asking and considering if this bill is to become law.

I cannot overstate this. THIS IS THE LAST LINE OF DEFENSE AGAINST A TAKEOVER BY SOCIALISM OF OUR REPUBLIC!!! Yeah, I know...a lot of you are saying that I'm overreacting and it's not that big of a deal. That is precisely what the "left" is counting on...for the general population to not engage themselves enough in the issue until it is too late. This plan to convert to socialism did not begin with the election of Barack Obama. It was initiated around the beginning of the 20th century and was anchored into place by programs hatched during the Great Depression. It did not begin with the latest election, but this most certainly is the endgame if they pass this bill.

The government will then own more of the economy of this nation than the private sector, aka, "The People" who are referred to in our Constitution. In 2009, Obama's administration went on an unprecedented seizure of the private sector economy by taking control of Chrysler, General Motors, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and AIG, as well as partial control of Citigroup and Bank Of America, giving the government control of about 1/3 of the nation's economic output. The healthcare industry currently makes up about 15% of the entire economy of our nation, but estimates expect the growing industry to claim 17.7% by 2012. This final seizure by the government of private industry will spell "game over" to capitalism and our fine Republic that many brave men and women have given their lives' to preserve over the years.

We must FIGHT and FIGHT NOW!! Get on the phones!!! If you can work it out get to DC and get in the face of your elected lawmakers and make it clear that you DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BILL OR SOCIALISM!! It is a small price to pay compared to the many who have bled to death on batllefields in far-off lands for hundreds of years to preserve this opportunity for you to serve the nation in a less-dangerous, but equally-important manner. I have listed the link below to the phone numbers of every member of the U.S. House of Representatives...please call and help preserve America as a Republic.

THE WISDOM OF RONALD REAGAN AND THE GENERAL WELFARE CLAUSE

As sure as Thomas Paine’s writings and quotes live on to reflect wisdom and the role of government from Revolutionary times, Ronald Reagan’s speeches and quotations shall live on as a beacon for modern day conservatives to follow. One of my favorite quotes is listed below and as with most of Reagan’s quotes, can be directly related to the current day’s political affairs.

“Nations crumble from within when the citizenry asks of government those things which the citizenry might better provide for itself.” -Ronald Reagan-

Who are the citizens of this country to ask, more like demand, the government provide them with universal healthcare? Where in the Constitution does it state that the government shall provide health insurance to all Americans? This question has actually been asked of many of the liberal politicians who support government run healthcare. Their answer???? They claim the authority of the government to enact such a program rests in Article 1, Section 8, of the U.S. Constitution, often referred to as the “General Welfare” clause. Let’s look a little deeper at this section of our Constitution, which is posted below.

The first paragraph of Section 8 explains that congress will have the power to collect taxes and provide for the general welfare of the United States, but that the parameters for doing this would be limited to the 17 enumerated powers listed below the first paragraph. Let’s look for the paragraph which describes a government provided healthcare program.

Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes;

To establish a uniform rule of naturalization, and uniform laws on the subject of bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures;

To provide for the punishment of counterfeiting the securities and current coin of the United States;

To establish post offices and post roads;

To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries;

To constitute tribunals inferior to the Supreme Court;

To define and punish piracies and felonies committed on the high seas, and offenses against the law of nations;

To declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water;

To raise and support armies, but no appropriation of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years;

To provide and maintain a navy;

To make rules for the government and regulation of the land and naval forces;

To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the states respectively, the appointment of the officers, and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

To exercise exclusive legislation in all cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten miles square) as may, by cession of particular states, and the acceptance of Congress, become the seat of the government of the United States, and to exercise like authority over all places purchased by the consent of the legislature of the state in which the same shall be, for the erection of forts, magazines, arsenals, dockyards, and other needful buildings;--And

To make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United States, or in any department or officer thereof.

Did you find it? That’s right. It isn’t there! Okay, now let’s take a step back in history. Let’s find the paragraph that describes the government’s authority to impose a social security program which forces all to contribute. How about a government welfare program wherein the contributors would be taxed from their income to provide for non-contributing citizens livelihood? I can’t find those paragraphs either.

That’s right, the erosion of the rights of the citizens of this nation, and growth of government control over them started around 1937, under Franklin Roosevelt. Roosevelt’s “New Deal” brought about a sweeping government power grab over the liberties and freedoms of the individuals of this nation, who were reeling from the economic fallout of the depression. All of it was unconstitutional, but accepted by the citizens who hoped the government would magically take away their financial problems. Sound familiar? Oh how history repeats itself.

The powers defined in the above section clearly demonstrate the areas of national purpose over which Congress is authorized to enact legislation including raising funds and taxing it’s citizens. Anything not listed in the enumerated powers is outside the purview of the national government and, as defined by the Constitution, should fall upon the individual states.

It is not the government’s duty to provide everything to its citizens. In fact, it is not the government that provides anything to its citizens. The funds utilized to care for a non-contributing member of our society are raised by taxing the contributing members of our society.

Any and all politicians who attempt to gain favor and basically purchase the votes of non-contributing members with the promise of more government programs to benefit them, do so on the backs of the contributing, working class of our society, not from their own personal pocketbooks. In the law enforcement community we have terminology to describe this…LARCENY! Article 1, Section 8, of the U.S. Constitution was written specifically to PREVENT bureaucrats from exercising such immoral control over citizens.

We are quickly approaching a point in our nation’s history where we, believers in the Constitution of this nation, must stand and defend it. The government is spiraling out of control in debt, yet we’re increasing government spending to fund more of these unconstitutional social programs designed to enslave the citizens of this country to government control. Many are beginning to push back, but this will not be a brief or easy fight. We must continue to vocalize our Constitution-backed conservative values in a loud, boisterous manner. We must ensure we help educate our fellow citizens on what is and isn’t included in the Constitution. Finally, we must be on the frontlines, pursuing every avenue possible to ensure the removal of any and all representatives of Congress, Republican or Democrat, that do not strongly uphold the Constitution of our United States of America. I end with another quote from the greatest President in my lifetime:

“We've been blessed with the opportunity to stand for something - for liberty and freedom and fairness. And these are things worth fighting for, worth devoting our lives to.” –Ronald Reagan-
